The iPhone 15 Ultra will launch alongside the 15 Pro Max, the leaker claims

A questionable leak says that Apple is keeping the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but will also release the more expensive iPhone 15 Ultra at the same time, with better specs.

This leak comes from Majin Bu, who, in addition to his erratic accuracy in previous years, recently claimed to have an exact copy of a case for what was called the iPhone 15 Ultra.

While other rumors have pointed to the iPhone 15 Ultra before, including in 2022, the assumption was that this meant Apple was renaming the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The leaks about this came after Apple released the Apple Watch Ultra, giving it some credibility.

Now Majin Buu says that The Ultra is instead a new, separate iPhone that will come out on top of the Pro Max in terms of specs and price.

Later in the Twitter/X thread, Majin Bu says his information is consistent with what the case manufacturers have said.

“Moreover, some case manufacturers suggest the Pro Max is too separate a device as a model,” Majin Buu wrote. “It has been said that the Pro Max will not be the top model this year.”

“Personally, I know for sure that two different 6.7-inch models have been tested, but I don’t think both will actually be released,” the leaker continued.

If Majin Bu’s sources are correct, it is claimed that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will top out with 6GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. Then, the iPhone 15 Ultra, which should start with these or similar specs, will come with 8GB of RAM and 2TB and will have “much better camera features.”

This is the only iPhone 15 rumor that claimed that there will be an iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Ultra. It also appears that the leaker is misinterpreting the confusion over the manufacturer’s branding, regarding data related to the device. Almost all case manufacturers are betting on rumors and are not given information in advance by Apple.

Apple will announce the iPhone 15 range on September 12, 2023.
