The draw will take place in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday at 4pm GMT, midday ET when the 32 teams are divided into eight groups of four.

The first pot contains the holders of the Champions League and the European League (Eintracht Frankfurt), as well as the champions of the six major European leagues – the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, First Division and the Premier League. As Real Madrid won the League and the UCL Double, there is a vacancy between the top two and this goes to the Eredivisie champion – Ajax.

The pots are ranked from 2 to 4 according to the UEFA coefficient, which measures results and performance in Europe over a five-year period.

The second pot will include Liverpool and the other English teams, Chelsea and Tottenham, in addition to Barcelona and Juventus.

Borussia Dortmund may face a difficult group as it will be in the third pot.

One team from each bet is drawn into a group that cannot contain more than one club from one league.
