The Cowboys need the Giants to beat the Eagles, but the Giants expected Davis Webb to start at QB

So much for teasing Brian Dabol that New York Giants he could Starters play this week.

The Giants are tied for the No. 6 seed in the NFC Playoffs and have nothing tangible to play for. That wasn’t a big surprise Multiple reportsincluding NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo and New York Post’s Ryan Donleavy Daniel Jones He will not start at quarterback for the Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles Sunday. Davis Webb, who has never thrown a pass in the NFL, is expected to start.

The game means nothing to the Giants, but it is meaningful to the Eagles, Dallas Cowboys And San Francisco 49ers also.

The Eagles have not yet clinched the NFC East. By defeating the Giants they would be the division champions and also the top seed in the NFC. The 49ers need a win and the Eagles lose to get the top seed. The Cowboys would win the NFC East if the Eagles lost and beat the Cowboys Washington leaders.

None of this matters to giants. They want to get some rest before a wild weekend, which is understandable.

Webb was a third round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and has yet to throw an NFL pass. He appeared in one match with Buffalo bills in 2021, with two rushes for -3 yards, which came when he kneeled twice at the end of a 45-17 win over New York Jets.

Webb finally got his shot at getting legitimate playing time in a regular season NFL game. The Giants get to rest key players. The Cowboys and 49ers may not be happy about that.
