Step inside the real-life X-Men '97 Airbnb mansion, complete with a danger room and more

Airbnb has unveiled a new line of specialization Icons Hotels that will allow visitors to enter the worlds of their favorite movies and TV shows, such as Disney's Up! Home and Mansion X-Men 97.

During Airbnb's 2024 Summer Edition event, the vacation company revealed that it had managed to transform a home that looked exactly like it Xavier School for Gifted Youth In New Castle, New York, in a cartoon-like experience.

The Airbnb X-Mansion experience will allow visitors to experience:

  • Train in The War Room with professional stunt coordinators
  • Try the Cerebro helmet
  • Make potions in the monster laboratory
  • Recreate the famous Wolverine image
  • Obtaining a diploma from the Institute of Higher Education in the study of Professor X

To recreate the X-Men 97 mansion, Airbnb teamed up with Microsoft to repurpose its 30-year-old operating systems to make working arm boxes and hand-painted every prop and room in the house to make it feel like visitors are walking through a 2D animated world. What's more, each piece in Airbnb's X-Men experience took over an hour to hand-paint.

As mentioned earlier, Airbnb has also given people a preview of what it has to offer Experience Up House Icons It will look like. Airbnb's Up house, located in Abiquiu, New Mexico, was built from scratch, and every detail in the house was hand-painted, including the relatively accurate color palette, chairs, and movie-accurate adventure book. The 40,000-pound house is also attached to a crane that suspends it 50 feet in the air.

Just like with Airbnb's previous Icon Experiences — which included re-creations of Barbie's Malibu DreamHouse, Shrek's Swamp, and The Last Blockbuster — users will be able to book their own Icon Experiences on the company's website. Airbnb's X-Mansion experience — hosted by the Jubilee website — costs $97 per guest and will allow eight guests to sleep in four bedrooms with two bathrooms. Up House can be ordered from Airbnb today for free as well.
