The historical epic of Mani Ratnam Bonin Sylvan: 1 It received a positive response from the public and film critics after it was released in theaters on Friday. Positive reviews and years of anticipation helped the film achieve a great opening at ticket counters. The film not only opened up to number wrecks in India but abroad as well. Film merchandising expert Ramesh Bala said the epic recorded “the biggest first-day opening of a Tamil film at the WW Box office of 2022.”
The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name Kalki Krishnamurthy, collected Rs 25.86 crore in Tamil Nadu, outperforming SS Rajamouli and RRR Kamal HassanVikram. Film merchandising analyst Manupala Vijayapalan noted, “#PonniyinSelvan Part One is off to a great start at the box office. The film grossed 25.86 crore on its first day in the state. The third biggest opening of the year. The two films that are ahead of PS1 are Valimai (Rs 36.17 crore) and The Beast (Rs 26.40 crore).
The Indian circuit clocked a pool of around Rs 1.75 crore, according to Box Office India. The film has fierce competition from Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan Vikram Vida in the Hindi-speaking states. Vikram Vedha earned approximately Rs 11.56 crore on opening day.
