The Menendez brothers – who were convicted of murdering their parents in their Beverly Hills mansion – claim that new evidence leaves no doubt that their father sexually abused them before his gruesome death.

“Had the jurors seen the letter Eric Menendez wrote to Andy Cano, and known that Jose Menendez had anally raped and orally intercoursed at the age of 13 or 14 in 1984, the prosecutor would not have been able to say that ‘the abuse never happened,’” the legal filing argues. .

The Los Angeles Times reported that the brothers’ previous petitions had been rejected in court.

The brothers’ legal team is pressing for a hearing or having the convictions overturned.

The defense in the first trial portrayed many allegations of abuse against the murdered parents, but the second trial limited the number of abuse charges that could be brought, the suit says.

Prosecutors have rejected the notion that the parents abused the Menendez brothers prior to the murders, according to the legal complaint.
