iPhone 14 Pro camera shake and shake in apps like Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram for some users

After the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, some early users of the devices noticed that the main lens of the rear camera was shaking uncontrollably in third-party apps with camera functions, such as Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram, resulting in a shaky video. The issue does not seem to affect the built-in camera app.

The issue was reported by users via TwitterAnd the redditAnd the tik tokand the MacRumors Forums Since the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro models on Friday, but it is unclear how widespread the problem or the underlying cause is. The main lens on iPhone 14 Pro models features second-generation optical image stabilization, and it’s possible that the stabilizer may work due to a software glitch, but that’s just speculation.

YouTuber Luke Miani said he encountered the problem on one of the iPhone 14 Pro Max units he was testing. Miani shared a video of the problem showing the main lens on the device shaking uncontrollably, and said that the accident resulted in the lens not being able to focus properly in subsequent use, even in the camera app. Miani said he took the iPhone to an Apple Store and was able to trade in the device for a new one.

If the problem is caused by a software bug, Apple can implement a fix in iOS 16.1 beta. We’ve reached out to Apple to ask if they’re aware of and/or investigating the issue, but the company has yet to respond to our request for comment.
