Fortunately, you still have a few days to recover it Warhammer 40k: Gladius – Aftermath of War Free on any major computer storefronts. The dark sci-fi Space Marines captured the core tenants of exploration, expansion, exploitation, and annihilation a few years ago, and now you can own it on Steam for free.
You won’t have long to get your hands on Warhammer 40k Gladius for free, in fact it’s one of the best Warhammer 40k games you can play today. Set on the titular planet Gladius Prime, archaeological interest soon leads to ancient horrors (as they are wont to do), and now you must choose between Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, or the Astra Militarium as you fight for survival and control.
You’ll be building cities full of factories, extracting resources, training troops, and acquiring more technology to become the unstoppable force of Gladius Prime – and soon not even a stationary object will be able to stand in your way. With a different story for each faction and a co-op/multiplayer mode, the renewed interest in Gladius presents the perfect time to try it out with some friends – whether you want to work with them or grind them into dust.
Player counts for Gladius have also risen on Steam, with the average player count for the 2018 4X game rising from around 500 players at any given moment to over 5,500 as I write this. That’s a 1000% increase in just a few short days. Of course, this doesn’t include the GOG or EGS giveaway either, and I’m sure those numbers will go down again, but you can’t argue with a free game.
Gladius developer Proxy Studios is making a 4X game of its own as well, and you can try out the Zephon demo right now for free. Taking part in a horrific conflict between humans, cyborgs, and aliens, you will need to try to reclaim Earth.
Warhammer 40k: Gladius – Relics of War is free to keep on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store until Thursday, May 30. You can find the game on Steam herebefore you end up paying $40 for it again.
