Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 1000 Review - Customizing the Wireless Keyboard and Mouse
(Page 4 of 5 )
Once you have properly installed the wireless keyboard and mouse, you can remove your existing keyboard and mouse if they are still connected. You can now customize your wireless desktop; use the IntelliType Pro keyboard software to perform commands, disable keys you sometimes press accidentally, such as Caps Lock. Using the IntelliPoint mouse software, you can reassign each of the mouse buttons including the wheel button to perform a command and modify the mouse settings such as the wheel scrolling speed.
My favorite feature of the keyboard is the media center. These keys can control your default multi-media program. I have tested it with Winamp and windows media player; these keys certainly make it easier to focus on your work instead of using the mouse to go switch windows to your multimedia player. Definitely is the highlight of the product in my opinion.

The media center keys located above all of the standard keys provide instant control of your default media player, allowing you to change your music on the fly.

The mouse is ergonomically designed for both right and left handed users and feels very comfortable in either hand.

The bottom of the mouse has a red LED the mouse also has the connect button for changing channels and under the battery cover holds 2 batteries.
The only issue I’ve had with this wireless setup is a strange lockup. The mouse will sometimes lock up on the screen and not resume functioning for a second. At the same time the keyboard will sometimes repeat the last keystroke until another is pressed. I have only had this issue on my test bed. I installed the setup on two other systems and never had this problem. I was unable to find updated drivers for my setup so I am left with the problem myself.
