See how Fallout 4's next-gen update compares to the legacy version

More than eight years later, Fallout 4 may be more popular now than ever, thanks to the Amazon Prime Video TV show based on the video game franchise. Furthermore, Bethesda Game Studios has just released a next-gen update for the post-apocalyptic RPG that was originally released in 2015. GameSpot has a comparison video – seen below – showing Fallout 4 playing on Xbox Series The main difference between the two versions is the frame rate. The improvement is noticeable even with Quality mode after the next-gen update, and there is a Performance mode available as well. Other than that, the visual quality looks very similar between versions.

Along with the frame rate improvements, Fallout 4's next-gen update also adds new Creation Club content to the RPG. For example, check out the guide to Echoes of the Past, a new quest focusing on the Enclave faction in Massachusetts.

Unfortunately, Fallout 4's free update is buggy for PS5 players who previously obtained the game through the old PS Plus bundle. As of now, Bethesda has attempted to clear up some of the confusion by saying: “The Fallout 4 Next Gen Update will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra members through the PlayStation Game Catalog.”
