Turtle Beach Sonic Link Review - Installation

Installing the Sonic Link is relatively simple with the Getting Started Guide. To start with, turn off the PC that Sonic Link is going to connect with. This is because the RF remote base unit will be connected to the COM port.

    1. Connect the RF remote base to an available COM port.

    2. Connect the mini-plug Y-cable to the PC's sound card, then connect the PC's speakers to the Y-cable and the mini-plug to RCA cable that comes with the Sonic Link.

    3. Connect the audio receiver to the stereo that the music is to be played on with the provided RCA interconnect.

    4. Connect the power supplies provided with the transmitter and receiver to the appropriate units.

    5. Before powering on the transmitter and receiver, make sure that both units are on the same channel. On the bottom of each unit is a slide switch with four settings: A, B, C, and D. Set both units to A.

    6. Restart the PC and install at least the AudioStation software.

    7. Before finishing the installation process, AudioStation will prompt to setup the RF remote. The programs use easy to follow to steps to configure the remote.

    8. Turn on the transmitter, receiver, and the stereo or powered speakers that will play the music.

    9. Turn on the music.

    10. Additional steps may be needed if the units are having problems with interference. If there is a problem with interference make sure the antenna on the units are somewhat pointed at each other, since they do seem to be directional. The side that transmits or receives is the side of the antenna with the four squares on it. If interference persists try the other channels, eg A, B, C, or D.

That's it. The Sonic Link should be up and transmitting music through your home.
