    Logitech X-240 2.1 PC Speakers - Design

The Logitech X-240 2.1 PC speakers are much smaller than I had originally expected them to be when I purchased them online. They are extremely lightweight and compact. I don't see a problem with this system fitting into just about anyone's computer setup, no matter how cramped your computer desk is. The dimensions of the two satellite speakers are 6.9" (H) x 2.6" (W) x 3.8" (D). The subwoofer is also relatively compact at 8.7" (H) x 5.9" (W) x 8.7" (D).

Each of the satellite speakers contains just one 2-inch-high excursion driver - it doesn't sound like much, but you'd be surprised at the sound that they're capable of producing. The subwoofer is also smallish at only 4 inches in diameter. The subwoofer box contains a front-firing port, and the sub itself actually fires downward towards the floor. I have the subwoofer placed underneath the computer desk on the floor, and it seems to operate just fine in that position.

The satellite speakers feel very durable; as a matter of fact, the entire system seems like it's built to last. The system comes equipped with a solid 2-year warranty, so you can probably expect to use these speakers up until you're ready to upgrade to a more expensive speaker system.

Aside from the two satellites and the subwoofer, the Logitech X-240 speaker system also comes with a wired remote which doubles as an MP3 player dock. You can connect just about any type of MP3 player to this dock (Zune, iPod, etc...), and you can even connect certain types of music phones or PDAs via the included adapter. The MP3 player dock can be used to charge your music player, sync it with your computer, or to just play music from your player through your Logitech system. The wired remote/MP3 player dock also is used to adjust the volume of the system.

The satellite speakers' design enhances the sound a bit by having the speakers slightly tilted up in order to direct sound from your desktop straight to your ears. It's just a small detail, but it does seem to help the music sound better and louder overall.
