    DJ Hero for the PS3

DJ Hero is a new release from Activision who, in the past, created a successful fusion between the gaming world and the music industry with its Guitar Hero releases. While those games were a hit, it was time for some new blood, and to the rescue comes DJ Hero for the PS3. Let's check it out.

DJ Hero carries the same basic overall design of its predecessors in terms of putting the gamer in control of the music via a peripheral device that mimics a real world instrument. The difference this time around with the DJ Hero launch is that a new genre of music is used, rather than mostly rock music.

No need to worry if you aren’t a fan of dance music, though, as DJ Hero has some amazing new mixes of almost every genre of popular music out there minus country. Most importantly, the game is loads of fun and exudes energy that will really immerse you in the gameplay.

Before we get into the game itself, let’s attack what might be a roadblock to some pulling the trigger on purchasing DJ Hero: its price. Unfortunately, DJ Hero costs about twice as much as a regular game. Why? Well, to play it you will need the proprietary turntable to control the game. So, if you want to participate in this party, it will cost you around $120 for the bundle that includes the game and the turntable.

While that does seem like a steep price to pay, you will see as we go on that it may very well be worth it if you are a music fiend. If you have the cash to burn and want to go all out, there is also a special Renegade Edition featuring Jay-Z and Eminem that is available for around $200.

With the DJ Hero Renegade Edition you get the same basic features plus some extras. First, the turntable gets a makeover from its standard matte finish to a glossy black finish with gold accents in the Renegade version. You also get a carrying case for the turntable that converts into a DJ stand. This could come in handy if your house lacks any decent-sized furniture to place the turntable on for gameplay. Finally, the Renegade Edition gives you two separate, full-length CDs of hits from Eminem and Jay-Z.
