How Does Apple Manufacture Their MacBook? - Advantages

As I mentioned in the “Introduction” section of this article, the apparent and claimed advantages of the MacBook’s new production process are numerous and great. The biggest touted advantage is the improved structure of the laptop, along with its smaller weight and size. According to initial reviews, this claim seems to be completely true. The aluminum unibody does provide a very substantial shell for the laptop.

The one weakness in the MacBook’s structure is its display. Because Apple was so focused on reducing the thickness of the display and ensuring a great view on the front, there is just not enough structure. The display appears to be highly susceptible to damage once it is pulled away from the body (while the laptop is on). All that means is that the user has to be fairly careful while his or her laptop is open.

As a part of Apple’s innovations in their production process, they have committed to making the MacBook as “green” as possible. One of the aspects of this is that they have removed all toxic chemicals from their laptops. Many laptops include chemicals such as bromine and chlorine for various reasons, such as flame retardants. Apple has done away with these harmful substances in favor of others that are more safe and environmentally friendly.

Due to the improved structure and smaller size and weight of the new MacBook, Apple has been able to reduce the size of their packaging by 40 percent. This results in less waste, as well as a smaller carbon footprint due to decreased requirements for shipping.

As always, Apple has ensured that this laptop is as energy-efficient as possible. In addition to making for an unbeatable battery life, it also lowers the impact that the MacBook has on the environment. This has resulted in Apple achieving ENERGY STAR compliance and numerous other awards and recognitions.

Perhaps one of the greatest advantages to Apple of their new production process is the recognition of achievement. Apple has managed to develop a new process that truly will revolutionize the way that all laptops are made in the future. Though it may be some time before the other manufacturers catch up, Apple has ensured that the competitive spirit lives on and the technology of our modern society improves. The end result is that consumers like you and me will benefit in the long run.
