    Asus R700t GPS - Features

For a device that is so slim and compact, the Asus R700t does come equipped with a load of nice features for a GPS device. The R700t’s navigation capabilities are powered by a SiRFstarIII GPS receiver and TeleAtlas maps that not only cover the 50 US states, but also give you the ability to navigate through Canada and Puerto Rico. To begin plotting your trip, you can either enter a specific address, coordinates, a Point of Interest (POI), or a favorite or previously entered address.

You can also choose either the Simple or Advanced navigation menu options; they give you different options for customizing your trips. Depending on what is most important to you during travel, whether time, fuel, or money, you can customize your trips even further with the Asus R700t. There are four different route options: fast, easy, economical, and short, that address these issues. The navigation is so detailed on the R700t that the unit will give you directions tailored to your desires and let you avoid toll roads or highways if you choose to.

This is a great thing to have if you are low on cash and possibly have to pay an expensive toll or if you are late to a meeting or engagement. Depending on your method of travel, you can also customize your trip with the taxi, bicycle, or pedestrian options. To help you even further, Asus provides you with a lifetime subscription to the Traffic Message Channel, which uses the R700t’s embedded antenna to show you alternate routes in times of accidents or heavy congestion.

The R700t will even advise you of speed traps. Other basic navigational features are automatic route recalculation if you make a wrong turn and a multi-trip planner. During your route, you are advised via the display of your direction, current location, distance to next turn, and estimated time of arrival. Simply put, to have a device so small give you so many options to customize your trips is a definite luxury.
