Logitech MX610 Laser Cordless Mouse - Details of the MX 610

Out with the old and in with the new. The MX610 rests next to its best friend the MX310. Although larger in size, the MX610 offers much more flexibility and speed versus the MX310.

Listing the features really does this mouse no justice. One of the most important features with this mouse is how it looks and feels. This is by far the most comfortable and stylish mouse that I have ever owned.

The build quality is beyond my expectations. I know Logitech builds solid mice; I also own an older MX 310. The MX 610 feels like it's been put together much more securely than my older mouse. The button layout is perfect; all buttons are easily accessible except for the notification buttons, which are placed between your index finger and thumb. The lights are clearly visible, but to actually press the button you must reposition your hand over the mouse. It's kind of a stretch, but if you're using it mostly for notification purposes it's perfect.

    Installation

The Logitech receiver is compact enough to be used along with a laptop. The receiver is strong enough to be placed in the rear USB ports and still offer more reception distance than standard 27MHz wireless mice.

Installing the MX 610 is a very simple task. Install the Micro-receiver into an available USB port. If none are available you can use the provided USB to PS/2 adapter to install in the standard mouse port.

Logitech's Setpoint software allows you to easily customize each button. Select the mouse from the list, select the button you want to reprogram, and select the new task you want to assign to that button. Nice and easy.

Once you boot up the system you can run and install the Logitech Setpoint software on the CD that comes with the mouse. This software allows you to utilize all the mouse's features, and gives you the ability to customize and control most of the features on the mouse. Once you have installed the software, you're done. Since the MX 610 has some of the newest innovations available, it's time to see how well all these things work, and find out if they are worth it or not.
