Logitech G5 Gaming Mouse - Inside the package
(Page 2 of 4 )

When this mouse arrived, there was a peculiar blemish on the outside of the package, as if someone ripped off a sticker or something. This is no big deal, and by no means a negative on Logitech, just a little odd for a new product. In any case, I made short work of the cardboard packaging and the plastic inside it. Here’s what I found once I finished getting the package open.
In the picture, you can clearly see the mouse, the package with instructions and CD, a plastic weight tray, and a small metal container holding the weights. One thing that is not obvious from the pictures, however, is that the mouse cord is not the standard plastic cable that most mice have. This mouse’s cable is a knit design, and resembles a tight-knit rope more than a mouse cable.
When I got the kit open, the first thing that caught my eye was the weights. This is an innovation that I have yet to encounter in any other product. It makes sense, though. Each person has their own preferences when using their computer and playing their games. To be able to customize the weight of your mouse is the ultimate in fine-tuning.

Above you see the weights and the weight tray. You can customize the weight of your mouse by as little as 1.7g, or as much as 36g. This may not seem like a lot, but it’s a world of difference (yes, I tested multiple configurations).

As you see, the small weights plug into the orange weight tray, then the weight tray is inserted into the bottom of the mouse.

The weight tray slides in and snaps into place firmly. I moved and shook the mouse, but didn’t feel the rattling or shaking I feared I would. The worst thing I could think of would be for the weights to rattle a lot while using the mouse in a game of Doom or UT. I’m happy to say, though, that the engineers at Logitech seem to have taken this into consideration.
