Xbox has created a new team dedicated to video game preservation and future compatibility.

“It has been nearly six months since we have come together as an organization,” Bond said in an email seen by Windows Central. “Our collective accomplishments in this time frame are tremendous. Everyone should feel extremely proud of what we have achieved and excited about the opportunities ahead. We are moving full speed ahead on our next-generation devices, with a focus on achieving the biggest technology leap ever in a generation.”
Bond also confirmed that Xbox “has formed a new team dedicated to preserving games, which is important to all of us at Xbox and the industry itself.”
“We are building on our strong history of offering backwards compatibility for our players, and remain committed to providing an amazing library of Xbox games for future generations of gamers to enjoy,” Bond said. “We have more to share publicly” about this come the annual Xbox Show in June.
“While the growth of the gaming industry is slowing, our growth continues,” Bond reportedly said. In January, the company laid off nearly 2,000 employees across its Xbox and Activision Blizzard brands.
In other Xbox news, we learned earlier today that Gears 6 will be announced on June 9, 2024. According to new reports, the fan-favorite shooter will be confirmed at the Xbox Showcase scheduled for that day.
