Woman says 'millionaire' client won't pay his $32,000 bill

TikTok has become a popular platform for workers to expose and draw attention to labor disputes.

For example, in June 2023, one user documented how her company removed grass from a client who refused to pay for landscaping services. Another user went viral after claiming Ye (formerly Kanye West) never paid for his services after she gave him a facial.

Now, another user has sparked debate on the platform after claiming that a “millionaire” customer refused to pay his $32,000 CAD ($23,771 USD) bill.

In a video with more than 22,000 views, TikTok user Keren (@abcimhappy123), a “certified cosmetic nurse” who works in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Instagram, claims she was providing services to a client who owned a spa and described himself as a millionaire. Despite this, he has been refusing to pay the bills for months.

“As an independent contractor, you only bill for the services you provide, and it is the responsibility of the person contracting with you to pay you on time,” Keren says in her video. “We've worked with this guy for two years, so this isn't the first time he hasn't gotten his paycheck on time, but this is the first time it's been more than three months late.”

“We are not talking about small change here,” she continues. “We're talking about $32,000.”

As the video progresses, Keren says she made multiple attempts to get him to pay his bill. These have included calls, texts, Zoom meetings, and more. So far, none of these efforts have been effective.

“We need to pay for November, December, and this month, January,” she says. “And what's even crazier is that he'll brag about how much money he's making and how he's selling different companies, and all this stuff in the same meetings where he says he needs a little longer to pay us. Make it make sense.”

Regardless, in the comments section of her videos, users shared their thoughts on Kirin's situation.

“Life tip: People who brag about money often don't have any,” one user said.

“Once you get paid, start charging for services upfront!” shouted another. “I've had to do this in the past with clients who didn't respect my work.”

A third said: “It's always the rich people you have to chase for money.” “silly.”
