In the fourth quarter of a crucial Pac-12 showdown between the crosstown rivals, No. 7 USC leads No. 16 UCLA 34-31. Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams leads the way with 378 yards and a touchdown on the ground and through the air.
With star Travis Dye out for the rest of the season due to injury, Williams carries a heavier load than usual and does so with poise. The Trojans scored on six of their last seven possessions and drove deep into UCLA territory as the fourth quarter began. UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson is playing through obvious pain and was up and down throughout the game with three total touchdowns to go along with three costly turnovers.
Saturday night in South Carolina at No. 5 With Tennessee losing, USC’s path to the College Football Playoff is still possible. But winning is crucial for the Trojans to reach the four-team field. A spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game is on the line for USC, while if UCLA can pull out a win, they can keep their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs alive.
