The Titans placed Ryan Tannehill at the IR position

When the titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill He had ankle surgery last week and there was reportedly an outside chance he would be able to play again this season.

The Giants closed the door on Thursday on that possibility. Tannehill was placed on injured reserve, meaning the Titans would have to play in the AFC Championship Game in order to be eligible to return to action.

That looks like a longer shot than a Tannehill comeback and a Week 18 loss to the Jaguars would keep the Giants out of the playoffs altogether.

The Titans also signed linebacker Sam Okwinono, running back Jonathan Ward, linebacker Andre Smith to the active list. Ward will likely help fill the void for the running back Derek Henry Thursday evening where Henry was listed as questionable to play.

Defensive lineman Jaden Peavy and offensive lineman Zach Johnson have been upgraded for Thursday night’s game and will return to the practice squad after it’s over.
