The Streamy Awards, which celebrate the achievements and successes of online media, returned to Los Angeles this year on Sunday, August 27. And while the awards show began in 2009 to honor web series, it has now branched out to include creators across platforms and continues to honor digital creators in categories such as music, beauty, comedy, food, and games.
The annual awards ceremony featured a star-studded line-up for its 13th ceremony, and presenters included Dylan Mulvaney, Drew Afalo, Delaney Rowe, Chris Collins, Pinkidol, Anna Sitar, Briana Chikenfrie, and XQC. The evening is hosted by seven-time Streamy Award winner MatPat, best known for creating the award-winning YouTube channel The Game Theorists.
In addition to key voices in the creative field like Chicken Shop Date’s Amelia Dimoldenberg, TikTok star Chris Olsen, and makeup artist Michaela Nogueira, the show also nominated newcomers to the scene: including food guru Keith Lee and one of TikTok’s new favorite comedians, Jake. The 2023 Streamys was also the first year that the awards ceremony presented an award Rolling Stone The Voice of the Year Award, which honored the best songs that dominated social media platforms. “I am so proud to be a part of Streamys this year,” MatPat said before the awards night. Right now, we’re at an inflection point for the industry, so we’ve designed this year’s show to capture all the wild and wacky moments that have defined the last fifteen years of digital content. It’s a time for nostalgia as well as for looking forward, and as a result, this show will be The year has something for everyone… the best online videos, if you will.”
