Lee Bardugo, the bestselling author of the Grishaverse novels that inspired the Netflix series shadow and bones, She reacted to the news that the series was canceled after two seasons. The series has developed a loyal fan following and even spawned a video game franchise for streaming, but has disappointed in viewership.
In an Instagram post, Bardugo wrote that she was “very sad and disappointed” after learning that there would not be a third season for Shadow and bonesno Six of crows Spinoff, “But I also try to hold on to my true gratitude.” She continued, “Most authors never get to see their work adapted. Many who do end up regretting the experience. I’m one of the few who can look at an adaptation with immense pride and happiness.”
“I am so grateful to our exceptional writers, cast and crew, who are not only extremely talented, but truly good people,” she continued. “Most of all, I want to express how grateful I am to the people who read this – whether you found your way into the books first or discovered it through the show. The Grishaverse is a better place because of you, and I’m so grateful for every tweet, post, comment, review, artwork, fic, tattoo, and costume Cosplay helped make all of this possible.
