At least 25 people have been injured after a deck collapsed at a Montana country club
Billings, Mont. — A deck collapsed at a Montana country club Saturday evening, injuring up to 25 people, police and news reports said.
Emergency services responded to a report of a collapsed patio in the 3400 block of Briarwood Boulevard in Billings around 7:50 p.m., the Billings Police Department said in a statement posted on social media.
“Several people were injured,” but there were no fatalities and numerous people were taken to local hospitals, Billings Police Lt. Matt Lenick said in a statement.
News outlets including The Billings Gazette and KTVQ-TV have identified the location as Briarwood Country Club.
KTVQ reported that up to 25 people were taken to hospitals.
Police closed roads near Billings Clinic and St. Vincent Healthcare to allow access to the hospitals.
Billings Clinic CEO Dr. Clint Seger said in a statement that the hospital has received six patients and expects to receive three more. Officials at another Billings clinic separately admitted 11 victims, the newspaper reported.
“We have multiple trauma surgeons, ER physicians and the ER team and critical care staff on site receiving patients,” Seger said.
The Briarwood website says the club opened in 1984 and offers golf, dining and swimming.
