Samsung’s Galaxy S22 launches in a new purple color today, which is officially called “Bora Purple”. Such as Company press release He helpfully indicates that “pura” is the Korean word for “purple,” which means that the new color is actually called “purple.” It will go on sale on August 10 for $799.99, which is the same price as the original Galaxy S22.
Since launch, the base model of Samsung’s latest flagship series has been available in a very similar color that the company calls “Purple”. But this previous color was a lot lighter, was close to pink, and was also two-tone, with gold details on the camera bump and around the phone bezel. The new purple color is completely uniform, with more or less the same color across the back of the phone, the camera bump, and the bezel.
Samsung’s announcement says that more devices will be available in this color scheme later in the year. “We are excited to introduce Bora Purple, first for the S22 but also for exciting new Galaxy devices later this year,” says Samsung’s Sonia Chang. With the launch of the new color on August 10, the same day Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked launch eventWe might get a glimpse of these upcoming devices sooner rather than later
While the previous violet was Online ExclusivePreviously available to buy directly from Samsung only, the new purple is available from a range of different distributors as well as the company’s own online store. These companies include AT&T, T-Mobile, UScellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile. For a summary of what it’s like to use the phone in practice, check out Galaxy S22 review.
