Sales of The Last of Us Part 1 jumped 238% after the launch of the TV show | UK charts

We have our first new number one in the UK boxed charts, Nintendo with its turn-based strategy RPG Fire Emblem Engage.

The title’s launch sales are 31% lower than what its predecessor (2019’s Fire Emblem Three Houses) managed. The new game has a more anime-like look to the graphics, which may limit its Western appeal a bit. However, this is still the series’ second-biggest launch in the UK, ahead of 3DS hit Fire Emblem Awakening.

This means that FIFA 23 fell to second place after its sales fell by 21% week over week, while God of War Ragnarok fell to third place with a decrease of 26%. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe holds the fourth spot with a 3% sales increase week over week, while rounding out the top five is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which dropped two places after sales fell 29%.

The biggest climb this week is The Last of Us Part 1, which returns to the charts at #20 with a 238% rise in sales week over week. The game is enhanced by the new TV series based on the title, which is available to view in the UK via Sky Atlantic.

The PS4 version of the game, The Last of Us: Remastered, also re-entered the charts at #32 with a 322% rise in sales.

Other big risers include Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. The 2017 game ranked 12th this week with a 104% increase in sales. This was due to the game selling for as low as £11 on stores such as Argos and Amazon.

Battlefield 2042 is back in 25th place with a 177% increase in sales. Again, this was because the title was available for £10 from Argos and Amazon. The Callisto Protocol returned to the charts at No. 16. The horror game, based on the Dead Space series, saw sales increase by 83% after dropping as low as £30 at some retailers.
