Prankster Sequel Debuts In 2025 – The Hollywood Reporter

The Exorcist: The Deceiver, Part two of a new trilogy from director David Gordon Green, it will receive a wide release on April 18, 2025.

News of the 2025 edition of the second semester in The Exorcist franchise from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions after the unveiling of the first trailer for The Exorcist: The Believer Showing in cinemas this past weekend behind Universal Pictures’ showings Oppenheimer.

The trailer, with Ellen Burstyn once again battling demons, appeared online on Tuesday.

The first film in a planned trilogy, The Exorcist: The Believer, It will be released theatrically on October 13. Also from Director Green, the first chapter of the trilogy has Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr.) raising his daughter, Angela (Lydia Jewett), after the death of his wife 12 years ago. A series of events forces the father to face the nadir of evil.

For the first time since 1973 The ExorcistAcademy Award winner Ellen Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris McNeil in the new trilogy.

William Friedkin directed the original version exorcist, which has since grossed over $441 million, making it the highest-grossing domestic horror film in its 48-year history. The film tells the story of a 12-year-old girl who is possessed by a mysterious entity and the lengths that her mother and two Catholic priests go to in an attempt to save her.

It was adapted from the 1971 novel by William Peter Blatty and the author won an Oscar for the adapted screenplay. The film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, as well as acting nominations for Burstyn, Jason Miller and Linda Blair.

The Exorcist: The Believer Also stars Ann Dowd, Jennifer Nettles, and Norbert Leo Butz, it is adapted from a screenplay by Peter Sattler and Green, from a story by Scott Thames, Danny McBride and Green.

The film was produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and David Robinson and James G. Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment. Executive producers are McBride, Green, Stephanie Allain, Ryan Turek, and Atilla Yucer.

Universal Pictures will launch Blumhouse/Morgan Creek Entertainment in association with Rough House Pictures.
