The Fortnite v24.40 update has arrived, so here’s everything we know about the new features coming your way including the recently announced Ranked mode.

There are only a few weeks left until Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 ends, but Epic Games still has a few tricks up its sleeve, as the arrival of update v24.40 will introduce a new ranked mode.

This competitive mode will replace the arena mode found in Battle Royale, giving players a chance to move up the ranks. Existing Star Wars crossovers will also continue in this update.

Fortnite Update 24.40 Downtime Details

Epic Games has confirmed that the Fortnite v24.40 update will be released in Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Downtime will begin 12am PT / 3am ET / 8am GMT.

It is not known how long the downtime will last, however It is usually about two or three hoursdepending on how much new content is being added.

Ranked mode arrives

Epic Games already has it Certain The official ranked mode is finally coming to Fortnite as part of the v24.20 update. You will be able to play ranked in both Battle Royale and normal Zero Build.

Once you enable rank, you will be able to compete for Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite, Hero, and Unreal in the first ranked season, which will be known as Season Zero.

Season Zero will run until the end of Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season 3, during which time Epic Games will “make any adjustments to issues and concerns that arise.”

Arena mode has been deactivated

With the arrival of Ranked mode, Epic Games has confirmed that Arena mode will be discontinued.

Triads removed

The option to play Battle Royale or Zero Build in the Trios team size has also been removed from Fortnite with the v24.40 update. From now on, you will only be able to play Solo, Duos or Squads.

Spider-Man: Cross-Spider-Verse crossover

To celebrate the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Epic Games has begun teasing a major crossover event that will likely feature the skin of Miles Morales and the return of Web-Shooters.

More Star Wars missions

It’s good news for Star Wars fans, as the current crossover of Find The Force will continue beyond v24.40 update. Expect new assignments to be posted the day after the update on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.

You’ll also be able to keep enjoying all those Star Wars-themed weapons and cosmetics until the event ends on May 23, 2023.

Balance changes in resources

After the 24.40 update, there will be some balancing changes made to resources and materials. The most important is that Material caps will be reduced from 999 to 500 So you won’t be able to keep that much.

Along with this change, the rate of material harvesting will be increased slightly, and players will now drop 50 of each material when discarded.

Fortnite update 24.40 bug fixes

The following bug fixes are currently in place scheduled It will be released with Fortnite v24.40 update:

• Continuing to make improvements with regards to some of the larger rocks on the Battle Royale island not providing as many items as planned.
• Fixes an issue preventing players from recovering with Slurp Juice after becoming a DBNO.
• Backboards equipped with Clone Trooper outfits will no longer appear separate.
• Clone Trooper Out’s head movement will no longer be static.
• Fixes an issue causing some clothes to appear shiny.
