Obama, Spielberg, and Springsteen delight the Barcelona restaurant staff

MADRID (Reuters) – People in Barcelona had to do a double take on Friday when former presidents Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and filmmaker Steven Spielberg joined throngs of tourists to visit some of the city’s prime sites – albeit with added security.

The trio was in Barcelona to attend a concert for his friend Bruce Springsteen at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium in Barcelona on Friday night.

Obama, Spielberg and Springsteen dined at Amar’s Restaurant at the Palace Hotel on Thursday. Employee Pol Perello uploaded a photo of them posing with the wait staff and chefs on Instagram with the caption, “The fun this business brings you!”

On Friday, the Obamas and Spielberg entertained some of Barcelona’s most popular cultural attractions. Stops on the tour are made to include the Sagrada Familia, designed by Antoni Gaudí, and the Picasso Museum.

And Spanish media showed the former president and first lady walking hand in hand in the center of Barcelona surrounded by a large group of security guards.

Obama and Springsteen first met during the presidential campaign in 2008. In 2021, they hosted a book-produced podcast, Insurgents: Born in the USA.
