Almost 32 years since the release of Monkey Island Secret and over 13 years since 2009 Monkey Island TalesPublisher Devolver Digital and Lucasfilm Games announced the release of Back to Monkey Island. The new game is due later this year.
The sixth entry in the critically acclaimed comedy-adventure series Point and Click, back to monkey island, It is directed by series creator Ron Gilbert and co-written by Gilbert and Dave Grossman, who have both previously worked on Monkey Island Tales Plus the first two Monkey Island games. The game will be developed by Terrible Toybox, who released the point-and-click adventure game thimbleoid park in 2014.
It is noteworthy that Gilbert, in typical cheeky fashion, announced the match on his account personal site On April Fool’s Day. A joke/promise he made nearly a decade ago.

Series creators Michael Land, Peter McConnell and Clint Bakakian will return to compose the outcome of the match. Dominic Armato, who has voiced series hero Guybrush Threepwood in every Monkey Island game to date, will return to reprise his role as the iconic character.
