Matt Cardona gives his thoughts on renaming Impact Wrestling to TNA

At Impact Wrestling’s Bound for Glory event, it was officially revealed that the company would rebrand back to its original name TNA Wrestling in January 2024, beginning the transformation once again at the Hard to Kill event. It was a decision made by management to consolidate the history of the company, which has used several names throughout its life, and it certainly got the wrestling world talking.

While some fans and critics have questioned the decision to return to the old name, Matt Cardona shares an opposite opinion, supporting the announcement while also praising the direction the company is headed.

β€œTNA is going to need to see pro wrestling,” Cardona said. X, formerly known as Twitter. β€œ@IMPACTWRESTLING has great TV and an even better locker room.”

Cardona was actually part of the Bound for Glory event, where he participated in the Call Your Shot gauntlet match. The former WWE star is not under an official contract with the company, but during his post-WWE years, he spent a lot of time working with them, which is why he had such insight into the locker room they put together. However, it remains to be seen whether the former Impact Digital Media Champion will be part of things when the new brand launches next year.

The company used the TNA name from 2004 until 2017 when it began rebranding to Impact Wrestling, but the promotion is already pushing the new name with TNA-branded T-shirts available for purchase for fans excited for the upcoming change.
