Two women have filed a lawsuit against NFL player Brandon McManus and the Jacksonville Jaguars, alleging the NFL veteran sexually assaulted them when the team traveled to play in London last season. ESPN reported Monday.

The outlet reported that court documents filed in Duval County Circuit Civil Court allege that McManus “grinded” them during the flight and that the team failed to supervise McManus and create a safe environment for the flight staff.

“These are completely fictitious and patently false allegations, made as part of a campaign to smear and disparage the reputation of a talented and respected NFL player,” Brett R. Galloway, McManus’ attorney, said in a statement Monday to ESPN. “We intend to vigorously defend Brandon’s rights and integrity and clear his name by showing the truth of these allegations – an extortion attempt.”

McManus spent the 2023 NFL season with the Jaguars and signed with the Washington Commanders in the off-season.

“Earlier today, we learned of the civil lawsuit filed on May 24 against Brandon McManus,” a Team Leaders spokesperson said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports. “We take allegations of this nature seriously and are looking into the matter. We have been in contact with the league office and a Brandon representative, and will reserve further comment at this time.”

The two women, identified as Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II in court documents obtained by ESPN, were flight attendants on a Jacksonville-to-London flight on Sept. 28, 2023, before the game against the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium. The Jaguars have not commented on the lawsuit.

McManus spent the 2023 season with the Jaguars after spending nine seasons with the Denver Broncos, which included a Super Bowl 50 title. The kicker signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the Commanders in March.
