Amid a turbulent time for the Royal Family, one of the biggest royal events of the year is fast approaching.

The official celebration of the King’s birthday, Trooping the Colour, is scheduled to take place on June 15.

This annual event usually brings all the senior members of the royal family together as they gather on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to greet the public.

Buckingham Palace He confirmed to the BBC King Charles – who is still receiving regular treatment for cancer – will inspect the troops during the ceremony. However, he will be in a chariot rather than on horseback as was the case in the 2023 tournament.

Kensington Palace has not yet revealed whether Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, will attend Trooping the Color as she continues to undergo cancer treatment.

However, she will not be inspecting the troops at the Colonel’s Show on June 8, a rehearsal for the actual Trooping the Color. General James Bucknall will inspect the troops in Kate’s place.

Kate was appointed colonel of the Irish Guards in 2022, and the review has been her responsibility since she inherited the role from Prince William. The British Army briefly indicated that Kate would attend the event on tickets it issued in March, but changed calls to remove any mention of the princess after Kensington Palace said her attendance had not been confirmed.

Kate did not attend any royal engagement in 2024, as her last official public appearance was at Sandringham at Christmas.
