Kensington Palace announced on January 17 that Middleton had undergone “successful” abdominal surgery and would remain in hospital for between 10 and 14 days.

Although it was a planned surgery, Middleton and Prince William, 41, kept their closest family members and advisors in the dark about the matter in an attempt to keep it a secret.

In an update on January 29, Kensington Palace announced that she had been discharged from hospital and was “making good progress.”
