Jon Favreau will direct the new Star Wars movie The Mandalorian & Grogu

There's a brand new Star Wars movie directed by Jon Favreau on the way called The Mandalorian & Grogu. The film is set to go into production later this year and the team has shared a first look image of what we can expect.

The news was revealed by starwars.com It has also been confirmed that Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni will all be on board to produce the film.

“I loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” Favreau said. “The prospect of bringing The Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is very exciting.”

“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni came in star Wars “Two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen,” added Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

Furthermore, the Star Wars team shared that The Mandalorian & Grogu “will lead Lucasfilm's ongoing feature development slate, including films directed by Charmaine Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni.”

As if that wasn't big enough news, the press release gives us initial confirmation that Ahsoka season 2 is currently in development, even though we all assumed she'd be back for more.
