The Brat Pack have been through a lot, but time has only strengthened their friendships off-screen.
While discussing the new Andrew McCarthy Sausages At the documentary’s premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on Friday, Jon Cryer had some less than fond memories of his life. Beautiful in pink (1986) co-starred.
“When we made Pretty in Pink, we didn’t agree because it was a commercial,” Cryer said in a panel discussion Friday with McCarthy, Ally Sheedy and Demi Moore. Entertainment Weekly.
“That’s very true,” McCarthy admitted to Cryer, while Moore disagreed. “Well, I didn’t think it was an ad,” she said.
“Well, it wasn’t an ad for you,” Cryer quipped to Moore, whom he dated while working on their 1984 film. No small relationship.

Cryer later clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that he and Cryer have since repaired their friendship. “I’m not talking outside of school here, btw, he was sitting two feet away when I said that,” he pointed out mail on saturday. “For your information, the man is a prince. We were too young to understand each other.”
They starred in Beautiful in pink as cool guy Blaine (McCarthy) and eccentric nerd Ducky (Cryer), both vying for the affections of Ducky’s best friend, Andy (Molly Ringwald).
Part of the Brat Pack — a term referring to a group of young actors in the 1980s who frequently appear on screen together — McCarthy explained at Friday’s premiere that he initially found the label “awful,” but has since come around.

“I turned 60 last year, and you’re starting to look at your life a little differently,” he said. “I looked back at this crucial moment in my past, which I’d been reeling over for so many years, and it seemed frozen in the past. And I wanted to bring it into my present. By examining it, I could sort of honor it. And if I honored it it started to become a blessing. And then I was fascinated by the journey.
They were also joined on stage by director Marcy Liroff, Beautiful in pink Director Howard Deutch, and journalist David Bloom, who coined the term “Brat Pack” in his 1985 book New York Magazine cover story.
