Jeremy Renner’s snow shoveling accident occurred while trying to rescue his nephew and was hit by the car after he failed to apply the emergency brake.
According to the accident report from the Nevada Sheriff’s Office, obtained by Variety, Renner used snow plows to pull his nephew’s truck out of the snow and, after exiting without adjusting the brakes, tried to stop the six-ton plow from sliding toward his nephew.

The report says that the snow plow’s brake indicator light was not working and that “mechanical issues may have been a factor in this accident.” However, he adds that “it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake will prevent the PistenBully from moving forward.”
Renner, who is best known for playing the superhero Hawkeye in Marvel movies and TV shows, He was taken to the hospital on New Year’s Day after the accident. He suffered blunt force trauma to the chest and required two operations, according to a statement from his publicist, and was released from hospital on January 16.
