Gigabyte RTX 4090 GAMING OC for sale
The sales ban does not appear to apply to street vendors in Hong Kong.
Someone managed to buy the RTX 4090 graphics card from Gigabyte more than two weeks before the official release. One wouldn’t normally see next-generation GPUs on sale soon, but it might confirm that NVIDIA’s board partners already have a large stockpile of cards waiting for customers.
This week, board partners only started sending out test samples of the RTX 4090, which should reach reviewers very soon. According to our sources, some media outlets have already received their cards, including NVIDIA’s Founders Edition. What is very important is that neither reviewers nor early customers will be able to use these cards yet.
NVIDIA has not yet released a driver that provides full functionality and performance. This driver will not be released to the public until October 12, when the card is officially released. However, just because you soon bought this card, without this driver there would be no chance of it working. For press members, this driver will become available later this week.
Just like any RTX 4090 card, this model comes with a quad 8-pin to 16-pin power adapter, unlocking over 450 watts of power. The card itself features NVIDIA’s latest Ada Lovelace architecture based on TSMC 4N processing technology. The RTX 4090 is equipped with an AD102 GPU with 16,384 CUDA cores and 24 GB of GDDR6X memory.
Update: The card in question is now said to sell for around HK20,000 ($2,548), roughly $1,000 more than the US MSRP.
