“Flash” tracked 75% Box-Office Drop

With box office numbers out late Friday, the DC Comics adaptation of The Flash is said to be on track to suffer an almost unprecedented 75% drop in its second weekend according to Delivery time.

The film debuted with $55.7 million on Friday and Sunday this past weekend, while this weekend it’s only headed to $14 million after Friday’s $4.3 million total.

If that number holds up, it will be worse than the 66% drop in “Green Lantern”‘s second weekend back in 2011 and one of the worst drops ever for a major superhero supporting feature.

The film is easily beaten by Sony Animation’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and Pixar’s “Elemental”, who are fighting for the crown. Both are on track for around $18 million each for the weekend.

If those numbers hold steady, “Elemental” will see its second weekend drop by just 39%, which is pretty good. Spider-Verse fares better with a 33% drop in its fourth weekend, bringing its total to $315.8 million by Sunday’s end. As such, it would likely end its run with a slightly lower domestic haul than “Spider-Man: Far From Home” which closed at $390.5 million in the US.

“The Flash” may also lose out to Jennifer Lawrence’s R-rated comedy “No Hard Feelings,” which took in $5.3 million on Friday and heads toward an opening weekend of around $14-15 million.

“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” will close the top five with $10.6 million for three days, bringing its total to $121.9 million to date. Domestically, the film is on track to beat the last two films in the series, which finished its run with $130 million and $127 million, respectively.

Finally, Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City” went viral this weekend and it looks like it’s been doing pretty well – the movie is on track to make $7.5 million.
