Barbie Follows “stereotyped Barbie” (Robbie) and Ken (Ryan Gosling) as they leave Barbieland and travel to the real world after an existential crisis.
Mattel executives did their best to try to keep the film from coming across as political. Mattel Films executive producer Robbie Brenner said the film “wasn’t a feminist movie”. Podcaster Matt Walsh, who made the anti-transgender documentary What is a woman?dubbed Barbie “The most anti-male, anti-feminist propaganda festival ever filmed.”
Ginger Gaetz, wife of Florida Republican Representative Matt Gaetz, called for a boycott of Barbie, criticizing Kane’s “disappointingly low T” and Gosling’s “beta energy”.
However, the vast majority of Barbie Viewers don’t seem to agree.
Barbie Not only is it a 90 percent positive critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, but the positive score equals a 90 percent audience score, resulting in a rare, rare movie for viewers to get a title that isn’t a superhero movie or an extension of a pre-existing movie franchise.
