Introducing Barbie war culture?
Elon Musk entered Barbie Chat by mocking the summer’s biggest box office hit on Twitter (or X, or whatever he calls this week).
Billionair books: “If you take a shot every time Barbie says the word ‘patriarchal’, she will pass out before the movie is over.”

He is the last to accuse Barbie — from director Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie — as a left-wing propagandist in the wake of the film’s biggest opening weekend of the year, taking in $162 million domestically. Mattel executives did their best to try to keep the film from coming across as political. Mattel Films executive producer Robbie Brenner said the film “wasn’t a feminist movie”. In an interview with timeRobbie seemed surprised by the claim. “Who said this?” She is said to have asked. “It’s not like that, or it’s not like that. It’s a movie. It’s a movie that has a lot.”
However, conservative commentator Ben Shapiro went viral over the weekend for relentlessly tearing the 43-minute film on YouTube. “The basic kind of premise of the movie, politically speaking, is that men and women have two sides and hate each other. And literally, the only way you can have a happy world is if women ignore men and men ignore women,” he exasperated. Then he predicted, “[Barbie is] He will definitely fall off a cliff [at the box office] … repeat business wouldn’t exist.” Shapiro also set fire to Barbie dolls at a barbecue in protest. (His review generated plenty of online derision and criticism of its own.)
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz accused the film of “kiss[ing] to the Chinese Communist Party because they want to make money selling the film in China for “including the ‘nine-break line’ on a map that favors China’s territorial claims to the South China Sea (however he admits he hasn’t seen the movie).
Podcaster Matt Walsh, who made the anti-transgender documentary What is a woman?dubbed Barbie “The most anti-male, anti-feminist propaganda festival ever filmed.”
Ginger Gaetz, wife of Florida Republican Representative Matt Gaetz, called for a boycott of Barbie, criticizing Kane’s “disappointingly low T” and Gosling’s “beta energy”.
However, the vast majority of Barbie Viewers don’t seem to agree.
Barbie Not only is it a 90 percent positive critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, but the positive score equals a 90 percent audience score, resulting in a rare, rare movie for viewers to get a title that isn’t a superhero movie or an extension of a pre-existing movie franchise.
