Colorado Springs: 5 killed in shooting at gay nightclub

At least five people were killed and 18 others injured in a shooting at a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Saturday, police said.

Officers received numerous 911 calls and responded to the scene at Club Q starting at 11:57 p.m., Colorado Springs police Lt. Pamela Castro said.

“They found a suspect inside,” Castro said. “At this time, the suspect is being treated but remains in custody.”

Castro did not clarify whether the suspect was included in the number of those injured in the shooting.

Police declined to discuss a possible motive. Colorado Springs Fire Capt. Mike Smaldino said 11 ambulances responded to the scene after multiple 911 calls.

“We’ll be here for several more hours,” Castro said, adding that the FBI is on scene and assisting.

A Report On social media, Club Q said it was “devastated by this senseless attack on our community” and offered condolences to the victims and their families.
