The always glamorous Christie Brinkley posted a not-so-glamorous photo on social media — one that showed her recovering from a procedure to remove skin cancer near her left eye.
“The good news for me is that we caught basal cell carcinoma early,” she wrote on Instagram (see post below). “And I had amazing doctors who removed the cancer and sewed me up to perfection like Dior couture. The good news for you is that all of this can be avoided by being diligent with your sunscreen!”
Model and part-time actress, who had a memorable role in the 1983 comedy vacationShe said she was there for a routine checkup for her daughter and asked the doctor at the last minute to check “a little spot I could feel when I put foundation on.” good idea.
On Wednesday, she took the opportunity to share her experience and warn others about the dangers of sun exposure.
“I've been getting serious a bit late, now for the mermaid/gardener,” she wrote. “I will apply my SPF 30, reapply as needed, and wear long sleeves and a wide-brimmed hat. Regular full-body checkups are a must! I was lucky to find my appointment, because I was accompanying one of my daughters to get checked.. The doctor was looking at each freckle with a magnifying glass… This wasn't my appointment so I wasn't going to say anything except at the end I asked him if he could just look at a tiny dot that I could feel while applying foundation. He took a look and knew right away that it was He needs a biopsy! He did it right then and there! So create your own good luck by scheduling your scan today. Greetings my friends!”
Brinkley also made sure to acknowledge the doctors who diagnosed and treated her skin cancer.
