Erie, Pa. (CBS) — Carson Breyer, son of interim Philadelphia Flyers general manager Danny Breyer, has been charged in connection with A wheelchair pushes a disabled woman down the steps of a bar in Erie.
Carson Brier, who plays hockey at Mercuryhest University in Erie, has been charged with criminal corruption, disorderly conduct and related offences.
Patrick Carotzi, another Mercryhurst student who plays on the men’s lacrosse team, also suffered the same offenses in connection with the incident.
The incident occurred at Sullivan’s Tavern and Restaurant in Erie.
A video, posted by @juliazukowski on Twitter, shows Carson Breyer and two other friends at the top of the stairs in Sullivan’s. Carson Bree is seen sitting in a wheelchair and then pushing him down the steps.
Security took the woman downstairs to use the staff bathroom, said Nate Sanders, Sullivan’s chief of security. While she was downstairs, he pushed the wheelchair.
Sanders told CBS News Philadelphia that “it sounded like somebody fell down the stairs” when the wheelchair was pushed.
Sanders and the security staff carried her back up the stairs and put her back in the wheelchair after the accident.
Sanders said Carson Brier and another friend were kicked out of the bar after security reviewed the camera footage.
Danny Brier He released a statement about his son’s incident, “I was shocked to see Carson’s actions in the video that was shared on social media yesterday. They are inexcusable and completely contrary to our family values of treating people with respect. Carson is deeply sorry and takes full responsibility for his behavior.”
