Actor Michael Stuhlbarg was beaming as the curtain came down on Monday night's premiere of “Patriot,” a new Broadway production in which he stars and which opened a day after he was attacked by a homeless man with a long rap sheet.
The 55-year-old “Boardwalk Empire” star's name was above the Barrymore Theater marquee when he took on the role of Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky in the play, which revolves around the rise of Vladimir Putin.
Pictures of the premiere show the actor dressed in black, looking at the audience and applauding.
The new play opened Monday, a day after Stuhlbarg was walking near Central Park on the Upper East Side when 27-year-old Xavier Israel hit him in the back of the neck with a rock, scratching him.
Israel, who is on parole and is homeless, was previously arrested for two assaults as well as an attempted robbery
