Biden takes the Japanese Kishida to dinner in the capital, and gives him a lithograph of Billy Joel

President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yoko Kishida, to Washington, D.C., with a seafood dinner on Tuesday evening.

The couples went to BlackSalt, a seafood restaurant in the Palisades neighborhood in northwest D.C

The Biden family received the couple at the White House earlier Tuesday, and they are scheduled to host a state dinner on Wednesday. Biden and the Prime Minister will also participate in a joint press conference that day.

Before dinner, the Biden family exchanged gifts with visitors.

The official gift was a 17-inch three-legged table that was handcrafted by a Japanese-American-owned company in Pennsylvania. The table is made of American black walnut and will include a commemorative plaque to commemorate the visit.

Biden presented the Prime Minister with a custom framed lithograph and a two-volume LP set, signed by music legend Billy Joel, as well as a vintage vinyl record collection by great American music artists presented in a custom leather box.

Jill Biden gifted Yuko Kishida with a framed painting of the Yoshino cherry tree they planted together on the South Lawn of the White House last spring.

In addition, she was gifted a soccer ball signed by the US Women's National Soccer Team and the Japan Women's National Soccer Team. It was signed before the United States and Japan played in a SheBelieves Cup semifinal in Atlanta, Georgia, last weekend.
