Amazon plans to hire 1,600 new Mexicans for the holiday season

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – If you’re looking for a job, you now have the opportunity to work for one of the largest companies in the United States.

An Amazon fulfillment center is hiring 1,600 employees in New Mexico in preparation for the busy holiday shopping season.

“Whether you’re looking for a full-time job that comes with benefits starting on day one, or if you’re just looking for a seasonal job to help cover vacation expenses, we hope we’ve got you covered,” Zoe said. Richmond is an Amazon spokesperson.

The company says Amazon has a significant impact on economic growth in New Mexico, at about $900 million.

“We’re very, very proud of the deep roots that we’ve been able to establish in New Mexico very, very quickly,” Richmond said.

The jobs they employ are primarily for their logistics network. They are the people who make sure your package is delivered in one piece.

The company also invested more than $1 billion in wage increases.

“Amazon offers really competitive wages. The pay range starts at $17 to $28 an hour. It really depends on the position and shift people are applying for,” Richmond said.

According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, while Amazon is hiring more people, other U.S. retailers are not doing the same.

It is expected that fewer people will shop in brick-and-mortar stores due to higher prices.
