1. Ensure that the Num Lock LED is illuminated
2. Press and hold the <Fn> key or the Fn + F11 key combination. 3. Press a few keys on the embedded keypad. 4. Note whether numbers appear on the screen. ![]() |

I am having the same problem.
the FN and f11 fix works, but only works for a few minutes and then fails. I try to do it again and no luck. I will hook up an external keyboard, and then it either works emidately after hitting fn and f11 the fix works. BUt then a few minutes later, it fails again. Sometimes the fix works, sometimes no, and having the external keyboard seems to make the fix work more often. Please help. |

Solution to keyboard problem
I had a similar problem, and was able to fix it:
My laptop keyboard (Dell Inspiron 2650) stopped working suddenly, but an external keyboard would work. The num lock was stuck on, and function-f11 did nothing. I just shut down, unplugged the AC adaptor, removed the battery, and held the power button to discharge. When I restarted, num lock was on, but function-f11 worked to turn it off, and everything worked. |

Try this
Your Number Lock is on.
I don't have the laptop you have, so don't know if this will make sense, but you must turn "num lk" off. On my system, I must hold the Function (fn) key and the num lk at the same time...then the letters should type letters instead of numbers Post again if you have further questions Quote:

Welcome to Dev H, lbgoral.
Please note that the last post was a year and a half ago... the problem has long since been solved one way or another. Thank you for your contribution, though... anyone finding this thread through a search will benefit from your post. ![]()
