Top Five Laser Printers for Under $200 - Brother 5250DN (est. $160)

    Brother 5250DN (est. $160)

Last year, Brother released the 5250DN to the market and it has received nothing but high praise since then. This laser printer is a monochrome printer, meaning that it only uses black toner. This would not be the printer for you if you are looking to make color prints.

The 5250DN features a very compact design that will fit almost anywhere. The printer's dimensions are 14.6 x 15.1 x 9.7 inches and it weighs about 21.6 pounds. This printer has a standard 250 sheet paper tray. Two more of these trays can be added to this unit, but must be purchased separately. The paper size may be up to 8.5 x 14 inches, and you can print on both sides if desired. This printer is easy to install and hook up to a network.

It comes equipped with a toner cartridge rated for 3,500 pages. You can purchase  7,000 page cartridges for this printer for under $100. The internal drum must be replaced in this printer every 25,000 pages, and that will cost less than $200. If you factor in all of these expenses, the cost of consumables is only a hair over 2 cents per page.

Tests have shown that this printer produces great quality text and images. The speed of this printer is also good. Recent tests have shown that the 5250DN prints over 21 pages per minute, which is exceptionally good. This same test showed that graphics were printed at almost 10 pages per minute.

The Brother 5250DN is one of the best values in monochrome laser printers on the market and would be a great printer for the home office or small business. This printer offers great speed and good text/image quality for the price.
