Digimon World Championship for the DS
There is some great news if you are an owner of the Nintendo DS: Digimon World Championship has just hit the shelves. Well, that may actually be bad news depending on how you look at it. Surely, fanatics of the Digimon series must be looking forward to this release. Most likely, they will be disappointed.

The two previous DS releases in the Digimon video game series have been a hit in the RPG world. This time around, developer Bandai Namco has decided to change the flavor of the series to be less of a RPG and more of a simulator.
Like they say, if it ain't broke, don’t fix it. Perhaps Bandai Namco should have heeded this advice, as Digimon World Championship is a far cry from its successful and popular predecessors for the DS. Digimon World Championship is a 1-2 player game now available for the Nintendo DS for $29.99, although they may want to lower that price considering the quality of the product.
There is no real storyline or plot to Digimon World Championship. The game basically centers on you training Digimon to be their best before they engage in battles with other creatures.
Your sole role is as a tamer for the Digimon. This linear style does not do much to immerse you or keep you interested in the game for long. The concept of training Digimon for battle seems good, but the way in which it was actually implemented into the game is severely lacking; it's where Digimon World Championship fails the most.
