The Internet, as we know it, is about to change. That’s right - you can forget WiFi. Novatel is hoping that the MiFi will soon be the wireless Internet connection of choice. What is it, and what can it do for you? Keep reading.
Novatel has created a credit card-sized device that allows users to connect to an EVDO or HSPA network to access high-speed data any time they want. Frankly, this tiny invention could completely shake up the WiFi market. So…what can the MiFi do you for?
What Does the MiFi Do?
The Novatel MiFi connects up to five users at a time to each other -- and to the devices of their choice. For instance, MiFi users can connect to cameras, laptops, gaming and multimedia devices at any time to enjoy online activity. More than that, the MiFi acts like a portable Internet network; you can use this device to get online from almost anywhere.
Linux capabilities built into the MiFi help this device run software and even store data for added convenience. The MiFi has a battery that contains up to four hours of juice -- that’s a lot of portable connection time. The lithium-ion batteries inside are easy to recharge.
You may have a mobile device with a great WiFi network, but you can’t always run your other devices whenever you feel like it. With the MiFi, you can. In essence, the handheld MiFi gives you a WiFi network from virtually anywhere at all. Because it supports multiple users, you can even share your wireless network with friends who are nearby and looking to connect.
